The Geoinformation for Development Centre (GeoDES), develops its activity based on geographic information management and processing to support the sustainable development of tropical countries, namely the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).
The importance of geographic information was aknowledged with the IICT fundation in 1883 as the Cartography Commission for delimitation of the colonial territory, driving and supporting thematic studies that subsequently followed. Currently GeoDES covers a diverse number of fields, focusing on the following areas and projects:
